School of Sporting Falconry and Educational Nature Trails holding birds of prey
The Plateau of Monte Prat is a wonderful natural expanse of raised land that looks out on to the plain of Fruili. Wings in the Night was set up here, in a wonderful landscape that is home to a natural environment that has remained unspoiled. It was the first Centre for Owls in Friuli-Venezia Giulia with a School of Sporting (non-hunting) Falconry attached and is the only one in the region. It is aimed not only at those who would like to become a falconer and wish to own one or more birds of prey, but also at those would like to learn more about the fascinating world of birds of prey.
The School of Sporting Falconry is not the centre’s only activity. Wings in the Night also offers those who would like to strike up a closer relationship with owls a unique opportunity: during the nature walks that the Centre organises on a daily basis (weather permitting), you can hold them on your fist, in absolute safety, wearing a real falconer’s glove. The owls include particularly beautiful species such as horned owls, barn owls and eagle owls.
